Better safe than sorry
Frankiesgarten was born during the Covid period. Mediamarkt had to close and I had to stay at home. That’s when I started gardening. Not because I love digging, weeding and collecting slugs, but because I have two children and carry responsibility.
I started with 16 beds. If you’ve followed me on social media for a while, you’ll remember that time: building frames, hauling soil, digging, weeding. It was so much work, I never want that again in my life. Neither do my knees and my back: back in 2008 I had to retrain because of damaged spinal discs and knees.
This is how it all began: my 16 beds.
Luckily, at some point a video from China led me to hydroponics. Today I only have a smaller garden for potatoes and carrots, everything that grows underground and can’t be grown hydroponically. Everything else I grow hydroponically. That makes my physical complaints a lot easier.
That’s why I’ve long lived by the motto: better safe than sorry. You hear it again and again: a large part of the fertiliser the world needs travels along just a few sea routes. Around a quarter of the world’s traded nitrogen fertiliser such as urea and ammonia is shipped through the Strait of Hormuz, plus almost half of the traded sulphur, which is also used to make fertiliser. If this strait is closed, fertiliser prices rise worldwide and deliveries stall. The world has seen that before.
I don’t want to scare you. Nobody knows what’s coming, the future is written in the stars. But if you can grow your own vegetables, you’re more independent.
I give you the knowledge, what you make of it is up to you. Get prepared, learn, start your first experiments. Don’t be too naive, just join in.

Hier findest du Wandsegmente mit zwei Pflanzplätzen, die speziell für die Montage an der Wand gedacht sind. Sie sind ideal, wenn du wenig Platz hast und trotzdem frisch anbauen möchtest. Die benötigten Materialien wie passende HT Rohre bekommst du ganz einfach im Baumarkt. Auch die passende Wandhalterung zur sicheren Befestigung ist mit eingeplant.
Die Türme sind so aufgebaut, dass jeder Turm grundsätzlich mit einer eigenen Steigleitung funktioniert. Gleichzeitig hast du die Möglichkeit, mehrere Türme oben miteinander zu verbinden. So kannst du zum Beispiel vier Türme mit nur einer Pumpe betreiben. Das spart Strom, reduziert Technik und macht dein System einfacher und effizienter. Du entscheidest selbst, wie groß und flexibel dein Aufbau werden soll.

FARBEN, WIE DU SIE LIEBST
Ob einfarbig oder mehrfarbig, du entscheidest! Du kannst Behälter, Deckel und Turmsegmente frei kombinieren. Vor dem Versand bekommst du ein Foto deines Towers zur Freigabe, damit wirklich alles so aussieht, wie du es dir vorstellst.
3D-DRUCK - ROBUST & FUNKTIONAL
Der Tower wird aus PETG-Filament im 3D-Druck gefertigt. Das Rohmaterial ist im Ausgangszustand lebensnah bewertet - wie viele Lebensmittelverpackungen. Da aber Farbstoffe enthalten sind, darf es rechtlich nicht als lebensmittelecht beworben werden. Für den Anbau von eßbaren Pflanzen ist es dennoch bestens geeignet: stabil, UV-beständig und langlebig. Reinigung per Dampfstrahler möglich.
WASSERSPAREND & EFFIZIENT
Hydroponik spart dir bis zu 90 % Wasser im Vergleich zum klassischen Anbau. Das Wasser bleibt im Kreislauf und muss nur gelegentlich aufgefüllt werden. Für den Betrieb empfehle ich eine manuelle Zeitschaltuhr mit folgender Taktung: Pumpe drinnen 5 Minuten an, 30 Minuten aus. Bei großer Hitze draußen 15 an, 15 aus, danach wieder zurück auf 5/30. Diese Schaltung unterstützt die Wurzelbildung und senkt den Stromverbrauch auf wenige Cent pro Tag.

NÄHRSTOFFE - GUT VERSORGT
Für den Start empfehle ich den Anzuchtdünger aus meinem Shop – perfekt für blattbildende Pflanzen wie Salate oder Kräuter. Du kannst damit sofort loslegen. Eine Übersicht über blatt- und blütebildende Pflanzen findest du auf meiner Homepage.
Für Pflanzen, die später in die Blüte gehen, empfehle ich zusätzlich einen Dreifachdünger, entweder direkt ab Keimung oder nach der Wachstumsphase. Für die Dosierung nutzt du ein EC- und pH-Messgerät, ganz einfach für Einsteiger oder professionell für Fortgeschrittene.

WENIGER SCHÄDLINGE - MEHR FREUDE
Ohne Erde gibt es keine Trauermücken oder Erdflöhe. Schnecken haben es durch das stehende Wasser im Untersetzer schwer. Und falls Blattläuse auftauchen, kannst du sie einfach mit Wasser abspülen oder die Pflanzen kurz in ein Wasserbad tauchen. DIE WASSERPUMPE - OHNE RISIKO
Du kannst die Pumpe direkt über Amazon bestellen. Warum? Ich bestelle die Pumpen ebenfalls dort. Sollte es zu einem Defekt kommen, müsstest du mir die Pumpe sonst auf eigene Kosten zurückschicken das lohnt sich einfach nicht. Bestellst du sie selbst, kannst du die Garantie direkt bei Amazon ausfälle einer oder beim Hersteller abwickeln schnell und unkompliziert. Kleiner Hinweis aus meiner Erfahrung. PRODUKTSICHERHEIT UND WEITERE INFOS
Je mehr Segmente du verwendest, desto höher wird dein Pflanzturm und dadurch kann er im oberen Bereich etwas flexibler wirken. Keine Sorge: Der Turm bleibt stabil und funktioniert einwandfrei. Durch die vielen Steckverbindungen kann es zu einem minimalen Spiel kommen, das bei größerer Höhe leicht spürbar ist. Das beeinträchtigt die Nutzung aber in keiner Weise. Ich wollte dich nur darauf aufmerksam machen. Ideal ist es, wenn du deinen Pflanzturm an einem möglichst windgeschützten Platz aufstellst, dann steht er sicher. Achte zudem auf einen hohen Wasserstand, denn das zusätzliche Gewicht sorgt für noch mehr Stabilität. Why I do all this
For me, healthy eating doesn’t start on the plate.
We buy vegetables in the supermarket, read nice labels on the packaging and associate them with quality and careful growing. But even labelled vegetables grow in soils that are exposed to the influences of our environment.
Microplastics and particles from tyre wear have long been detectable in our soils. On top of that come other environmental burdens. A label can’t simply rule out these influences.
That’s exactly why I grow hydroponically.
My plants grow without soil in a controlled water cycle. I decide which water and which nutrients they get, check EC and pH and change the nutrient solution regularly.
And for that I need neither a big garden nor my own fields. Hydroponically I can grow wherever there’s space and the right conditions: on the balcony, the terrace or indoors, even 365 days a year.
I don’t just want to believe that my vegetables grow under good conditions. I want to know as precisely as possible how they grow.
That’s exactly the thought behind my hydro towers.
Why a plant tower is more than just a system
More and more people are discovering how good it feels to build their own growing know-how and become more independent. With a plant tower you use spaces that would otherwise stay empty, whether on the wall, on the balcony or in the garden.
If you have a garden, you can use your beds specifically for classic crops such as potatoes, carrots or onions, while growing herbs, lettuces and leafy greens vertically to save space.

Do I need special knowledge for hydroponics?
No. The system is built so that beginners understand it easily too.
How much space does a hydro tower need?
A tower takes up about as much space as a small table. Perfect for a balcony or garden.
Does growing work indoors too?
Yes, with light (e.g. LED) you can use the tower indoors too.
How does shipping work?
